ABOUT THE AUBURN RAVINE PRESCRIBED BURN ASSOCIATION
The Auburn Ravine Prescribed Burn Association (ARPBA) is a community-based group dedicated to restoring the health of our local landscapes and reducing wildfire risk through the safe and effective use of prescribed fire. Built on the “neighbors helping neighbors” model, we bring together landowners, volunteers, and trained fire practitioners to plan and implement low-intensity burns that benefit both people and the land. We serve communities throughout Western Placer County, working across the rolling grasslands, oak woodlands, and mixed pine foothill environments that define the Auburn Ravine area. Through hands-on training, shared equipment, and collaborative burns, ARPBA is building local capacity, strengthening community resilience, and bringing good fire back to the Auburn Ravine—one property at a time.
REDUCE WILDFIRE RISK
Implement low-intensity prescribed burns to reduce hazardous fuels, protect homes, and create a more fire-resilient landscape across Western Placer County.
BUILD LOCAL CAPACITY
Train and support community members to safely plan and participate in prescribed fire, growing a skilled local workforce of practitioners.
STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY
Bring neighbors together through the barn-raising model—sharing knowledge, resources, and effort to care for the land using good fire.
Community. Capacity. Good Fire.
For too long, property owners in Western Placer County have wanted to use prescribed fire but lacked the support, training, and resources to do it safely and legally. While wildfire risk continues to grow, many landowners are left navigating complex regulations, limited access to qualified leadership, and few opportunities for hands-on experience.
We formed the Auburn Ravine Prescribed Burn Association to change that.
Built on the barn-raising model, our PBA exists to bring people together—neighbors helping neighbors—to reintroduce good fire to the landscape. We believe that local communities should have the tools, training, and support needed to take action on their own land.
By combining professional standards with community-driven effort, we are creating a pathway for property owners to reduce fuels, restore ecosystem health, and build long-term wildfire resilience.
Because waiting isn’t a strategy—and good fire can’t come back without people willing and able to use it.
